Proto Pipe is a small business based in Willits California that has been around since the 60’s. The company was once reasonably big, but now consists of a simple machine shop with 8-10 employees, has never had an official store front, and produces around 1000 pipes a week.
The Original Proto Pipe was made from semi-round brass bars, had no lid, a 9 hole bowl, and a piece of leather around it. Now days The Proto Pipe Deluxe is cut from square stock and made round by hand, has a”PP” stamped lid, and a 5 hole bowl. Proto Pipe uses no CNC machines all the milling is done manually.
One of the things that sets Proto Pipes apart from other tobacco pipes is the fact its made of brass. This gives the Proto Pipe an advantage over glass pipes because it has a removable tar trap, stash pod, and poker. This cleaning kit makes the Proto Pipe unique and makes the Proto Pipe a favorite amongst paraphernalia enthusiasts.
